Welcome, I am Tara McGovern-Ortiz! It takes both courage and self-compassion to search for support through life’s challenges, displaying great strength that you’ve made it here. It is my deep honor to see that strength in others, and to witness them see this strength in themselves.

My life journey brought me here through many challenges and adventures to be a companion, witness and guide to those seeking healing and transformation. As a first-generation American, experiencing both hardship and privilege, I have discovered a potent compassion for the broad spectrum of human experience across culture and space. My greatest resource — an intimate relationship with nature and place — has compelled me forward for many years as a student, guide, mentor and psychotherapist. Inspired by the meaningful experiences that occur when we enter mindful relationship with nature and each other, I have made my way here to continue my journey and am delighted that you have too.

Whether you find yourself experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, chronic illness or pain, relationship issues, stress due to identity-formation, cultural differences, trauma or bereavement, you are not alone, and I am here to help.

As a strengths-based and nature-centric therapist, I take a clinical approach to counseling seriously, while keeping in mind that there is far more within and around every individual than meets the eye. I incorporate ecopsychology, ecofeminism, adventure therapy, somatic awareness, mindfulness, ceremony, and rites of passage creation into my work alongside many traditional methods of therapy, bridging mind, body, and soul. With a growth-oriented, trauma-informed lens, I invite compassion, curiosity and courage to the therapeutic process, inspiring individuals to rediscover their intuitive wisdom.

I currently offer teletherapy, as well as outdoor sessions.
