Starts in October 2022, alternating Wednesday from 9am-11:45am

2022 Format

  • 55 hours of training conducted in twenty 2.75 hour live online sessions spread out over 9 months.
  • Seven optional hour-long Q & A Support Sessions
  • Support for practice with classmates between training sessions (optional)

Fall 2022 training

Wednesdays, 9-11:45am MT. Training sessions occur two to three times monthly (roughly bi-weekly) and the additional one hour Q & A sessions occur 7 times throughout the course.

This is an experiential learning format with didactic lecture, live demonstrations and practice of skill implementation. There will be handouts provided and suggested readings to bolster your learning and support to meet with other participants between groups for additional practice. You will have the opportunity to partner with another student for added accountability and practice. This training will occur online over Zoom and your live attendance is required.

Based on her 25+ years as a counselor and 20+ years training therapists and healers, Katie designed this course to support therapeutic practitioners who are ready to learn, understand, and practice essential somatic and soul-based trauma skills.

Vicarious Trauma and Energetic Self-care

Boundaries

  • Understanding the role of boundaries in trauma rupture and repair

Attachment: Internal and External

  • Intro to attachment and attachment styles
  • External attachment skills: being the “Good enough parent”
  • Mindfulness in the role of attachment

Soul-based, Lineage and Energetic Interventions

About your facilitator:

Katie Asmus, MA, LPC, BMP

photo of katieKatie Asmus MA, LPC, BMP, describes her work as “bringing forth the innate wisdom within every-BODY, and opening people’s minds and hearts to greater possibilities.” Founder of The Somatic Wilderness Therapy Institute, Katie practices as a Somatic, Nature-based & Adventure psychotherapist, life coach, educator, mentor, quest guide and workshop facilitator. In addition to leading educational and therapeutic Wilderness programs for the past 30 years, Katie focused her graduate thesis on body-centered interventions for working with trauma. She has presented internationally in these fields of study for over 20 years and published articles on the topics of Trauma, Ceremony & Ritual, and the use of Conscious Choice in wilderness work.

Currently, in addition to running a private psychotherapy practice, Katie trains healing practitioners in advanced EMDR therapy skills, therapeutic nature-based skills, and somatic trauma resolution, alongside leading Rites of Passage programs and trainings.

Katie is an avid learner, creator, manifestor and lover of life! She is constantly in awe of the strength of the human spirit and the inherent wisdom of our body-minds.
