Jaycee Cole (she/her/hers), MA Candidate — Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern

Hi there! I am thrilled to serve as the graduate level counseling intern at the Somatic Nature Therapy Institute this year working with individuals, couples, and people in relationships.

The foundation of my therapeutic practice is rooted in the knowledge that my clients are the experts of their own journeys. I am passionate about supporting the rebuilding of personal, familial, and identity relationships, particularly in the wake of trauma. My work is guided by an endless curiosity of the lived experience of individuals and communities. I believe in the balanced power of presence, connection, creativity, silence, voice, tears and laughter within the therapeutic relationship.

Above all else, I care deeply about creating space that allows my clients to feel witnessed as they are.

My therapeutic modalities include nature-based therapy, somatic awareness, EMDR, and mindfulness. I also believe in the integration of radical imagination as a practical tool for alignment and growth.

Before pursuing a career in therapy, my professional life centered around Executive Coaching, group facilitation, and program management. I am trained to work with individuals through motivational interviewing, fulfillment, process, balance coaching, the Enneagram, Positive Intelligence, and groups utilizing the Co-Active Leadership Model. I also have experience facilitating wilderness groups, groups of people with traumatic brain injuries, and groups of professional leaders. A year-long leadership training informed by experiential, group, and nature-based therapeutic practices re-directed me to the field of Wilderness Therapy, and I haven’t looked back.

Outside of my professional role, you can find me hiking with my dog, dancing with community, reading from a random collection of books, or cooking with my partner.

I hope to connect with you in support of your therapeutic journey!
